You drive or walk past parks, fountains and statues every day, but do you ever stop to take a close look?

It was a sunny, winter afternoon in Madrid and I was sauntering, snapping photos and enjoying the sites. Instead of “stopping to smell the flowers” I was “stopping to shot the statues.” I felt like skipping and singing...but that would have given me even more stares than usual!

Just outside the Botanical Gardens I stopped to capture the color of the yellow leaves in the background...

The crumbling remains of a once spectacular man...

The layers of browns in one frame...

The water splashing between the horses....

The symbol of Madrid, the Plaza de Cibeles...

and the King of Knowledge on the steps of the Biblioteca Nacional....

The beauty abounds when walking through a city. I loved capturing all of the textures, and looks, and the vibrancy in movement.

Take a walk this weekend and get a closer look at the beauty that surrounds you!
